Current operation
Headquartered in Reykjavik, Iceland, Airmango Group operates three 100% owned sister companies. Airmango Cars ehf is Iceland’s first 100% only electric vehicle car rental using only Tesla cars, Airmango Stay ehf operating the infamous 5 Million Star Hotel with 19 unique accommodation units and Airmango ehf operating one of Iceland’s top 20 travel agencies.
Airmango operation has been known in Iceland for showcasing how it is possible to operate a travel business without any distribution network such as Airbnb, Booking.com or any other travel agencies that usually cut off 20-25% in sales commission. Only direct sales from own website.
It is also known for being able to develop into Iceland’s Top 20 largest travel agencies without any external investor in only 3-4 years. Its 19 units accommodation properties at two locations with all its infrastructure / service houses is also 100% debt-free.
This is all possible due to the fact Airmango profit margin is higher than industry norm as we do not pay any 20-25% sales commission. Our unique accommodations sell them self and is creating media exposure all over the world. See image below. This is the base we want to build from into our international expansion.

Build on the base we have - "We are the destination"
Our core competence is building up a hotel operation with unique accommodation units and selling them directly without any distribution network. We plan to do more of this and expand by developing / designing more brands
For this to work they need to be unique. Today we have 5 brands in various development stages – from ideas on the drawing table fully developed in-house to full tested units waiting for local planning authorities. These are units developed from scratch at our studio in Reykjavik or are prefab or franchised. We simply plan to build up brands
International expansion through a social platform
We intend to build a social platform (link to sign up) to realise our growth plans. For this and to expand our base of unique accommodations we are seeking Euro 0.5M – 2.5M of equity capital from investors through Funderbeam.
With the social platform we plan to: Allow 3rd party operators to sign up and participate, Run crowdfunding campaigns for new locations, Matchmaking between all parites, You can follow the Travel Architect you like and etc – add more

Vision / purpose
Our purpose is very simple. We want to preserve & re-wild nature as nature is luxury and what we need more of to be able to survive on this planet. Most of us have the Baseline Shifting Syndrome. Meaning we only judge biodiversity or nature declining on the generation we belong to. We have difficulties seeing the bigger picture of how things have developed through 2-3 generations. Most of us realize biodiversity has declined around 50-60% over just 2-3 generations. That is serious.
The way we plan to do this is to partner with landowners or buy land with help of green bond investors – and build up nature paradises by using only a small portion of the land for our sustainable operation and give landowners the opportunity to preserve & re-wild the larger area. This is what we call a Nature-backed Economy. An economy where nature is in the front seat.
We will measure ROI by counting how many species of birds relocate to the area.
Problem
Lack of recurring customers
Key challenge for most companies in the travel industry is customer loyalty. Retaining customers is considered to be far more profitable than consistently chasing new ones. As online sales in the travel industry are always increasing it has completely transformed the structure of customer’s purchasing behavior due to less human interaction.
Increasing anxiety for climate change
Climate change is a crisis. As this reality continues to evolve, teams of international researchers and specialists have turned their focus to the younger generation and are treating ‘climate anxiety’ in earnest. Research has uncovered feelings of fear, grief, and acute distress in thousands of people aged 16-25, coupled with a reported impact on their daily lives and mistrust of government and institutions. The next generation is paralyzed with doubt in a time when they need every available support to access their creative power.
Need for social validation / acceptance
In the neverending quest for purpose, research has shown us that experiential purchases bring greater joy than material ones no matter when in the process you measure. By investing in these intangible moments consumers are able to convey identity, create connections, and build narratives about their lives and values. They can package and share these abstract messages with anyone from close family, to passing acquaintances, to strangers. They can find joy, and forge intimate memories that become a part of their story. They can create meaning by choosing to invest this time and money in places that match their ethical vision. By creating unique accommodations, we can build the house that these interactions are born in, over and over again.

Too strong networking effects OTAs
Most travel operators are having challenges with increasingly higher sales commission from OTAs such as booking.com, hotels.com and other distribution networks. They are using their sustainable competitive advantages (SCA) based on networking effects on the internet to increase their part of the value chain. Strong networking effects gives them the negotiation power to keep on increasing this. This is getting to the pain point for travel operators that they are close to not being profitable at all.

Traction
With no investors we have been able to build up a USD 4 mln operation from only two multi-day travel experiences and build up Airmango Stay ehf (owner of all 19 hotel rooms with infrastructure and service houses) so it is debt-free. Now we want to open up for external investors and build up hundreds more multi-day travel experiences.
